Mike has had a long successful career as a consultant/project manager in the education sector working with schools, universities, local authorities, government departments/agencies and voluntary/charitable organisations.
He became a highly skilled writer of strategies and associated funding applications to national and international agencies, trusts and foundations, helping numerous clients secure the grants needed to implement those plans or strategies. He also gained experience on the other side of the fence i.e. in grant distribution – the preparation of application criteria and the allocation of grants against those criteria.
In recent years he has applied the skills and expertise developed in the education sector to help the many charities working in the horseracing industry gain the necessary grants to support their invaluable services. He has knowledge of, and experience of working with, the major grant giving trusts and foundations (including the Racing Foundation). The charities he has worked with include the Northern Racing College, Racing Welfare, Retraining of Racehorses, the Arabian Racing Organisation and New Beginnings, while he has also provided consultancy for the BHA and HBLB.
